Why MLP the Movie Should Have Been an FiM RemakeWith all the issues that have arisen from the MLP movie since it’s release in October last year, from continuity [or lack thereof…], to an abundance of largely useless characters, to overused villain clichés, and a story that’s largely worthless; what would I, one of the film’s more vocal critics [at least until Nero Angelis releases his review of the movie] have done differently?
Given that I’ve rewritten the stories of both ‘The Cutie Re-Mark’ and ‘Shadow Play’, the logical choice would just be to do the same with the movie, yes? Rewrite the story so that most of the aspects of the movie actually make sense and just cut out completely whatever doesn’t work, right?
Well, I could, and actually at some point I probably will [but at the moment I want to rewrite most of the episodes of season 7 first, and that’s going to take a while] but it occurs to me that DHX missed out on a golden opportunity for a p

'A Royal Problem' With Friendship is MagicWhile discussing the episode 'A Royal Problem' with another deviant, we'd ended up talking about Celestia's trip into the dreamscape, and in that discussion, he brought up a rather... interesting detail I and many others had long since overlooked;
When Celestia uses her magic to go into the dreamscape, the magical aura around her horn is not the conventional yellow dolor, but a dark blue, implying that Celestia and Luna's powers were switched along with their cutie marks; and sure enough, after their marks are switched, Luna also showcases her sister's yellow aura when she uses magic.
This revelation stemmed from the idea of Celestia having done Luna's job in Luna's absence during her exile, but with this little detail [plus apparently some dialogue from Luna saying that only her magic [in this case in Celestia's possession] could affect the dreamscape] suddenly that idea becomes impossible.
And this is important. its important for a good reason. Empathy.

Let's Talk About Diamond TiaraFor a time, the prissy, bratty spoiled unicorn bully known as Diamond Tiara was one of the most hated characters in the show for just how unapologetically despicable she behaved. While I can understand this view [as I have a similar beef with Principal Cinch from 'Friendship Games'] I never quite had that same level of hatred towards her. To me she was just bland enough and generally got her comeuppance for me to write her off as one of the more stock and lower tier villains. Given that she was also just a child, I was even less inclined to think badly of her as she had plenty of time to grow out of that phase [plus she was nowhere near as bad as D.W. from 'Arthur', whom I despise to this day]
When 'Crusaders of the Lost Mark' aired, I was fairly satisfied with DT's character exploration and turnaround; it made sense to me and I thought her new application of her special talent was a nice touch for the series moving on. Of course, in light of Starlight and every horribly botched
